High on a hill, to the left of the Algeti River, in the municipality of Tetritskaro, a mysterious story awaits you - the Partskhisi Fortress. Inscribed in the landscape of Kvemo Kartli, it is silent about its origin, because there is no information about its construction. For the first time it appears in sources from the time of Bagrat IV (1027-1072), but, probably, walls stood here long before that.

Perhaps the inaccessibility of the fortress gives way to a strategic choice of location. Located on one of the main highways of Kvemo Kartli, it offers stunning views of fortresses such as Birtvisi, Orbeti, and the eastern part of Kojori.

Today, the fortress appears before the guest in a destroyed form, where only certain sections of the walls remind of its former power. Before excavations, its plan seemed unclear, but the structure appears to have included two parts: a citadel in the center and a fortification wall encircling it almost concentrically. The entrance inside the walls of the fortress is now lost, and at the top, in the north, there is only one entrance hole. The impressive arched gate stands out among the ruins. Here, brick is skillfully intertwined with stone, and traces of restoration are visible. The walls of the fortress are raised from cobblestones, with cut stone used in the upper layers. The western part of the citadel is separated by double walls, a harbinger that a fortress of colossal size, three or four stories high, may have stood here.
