This is another site of Sabue, and unlike the first the dedication here is named outright: the church bears the name of John the Baptist, natlismtsemeli in Georgian.
Sabue lies in north-eastern Kakheti, at the foot of the Caucasus range, and stretches along the foothills for several kilometres. This church stands in the northern part, closer to the mountains, while the revered site of Didbatoni remains more than six kilometres to the south. Kvareli is about sixteen kilometres away.
There is no fixed schedule of services at the church, but it can be approached at any time. The road into the upper village is noticeably worse than into the lower part: unpaved, sloping in places and slippery after rain. If you are visiting the southern site as well, start from below and work upwards.
