The cross is set on a namonastrali, the site where a monastery once stood. No buildings remain, and the cross serves as the only sign marking the spot.
The place lies in the far southeast of Kakheti, in Dedoplistskaro Municipality, not far from the border with Azerbaijan. This is already semi desert: steppe, clay bluffs and scattered salt flats. The nearest villages and churches are marked some twenty kilometres away.
Do not touch ribbons, coins or offerings, as they are left on purpose. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.

Getting there
- Ask locals for directions, since the short way is not always obvious.
- The last stretch runs along a dirt road that softens after rain.
