A naeklesiari survives in Davitiani, the place where a church once stood. Neither walls nor a name of the building are left: the district only remembers that a shrine was here.
The village lies south-west of Lagodekhi, on the Alazani plain. This is wine country, the villages stand well apart, and the nearest described shrines of this part of Kakheti are seven and eight kilometres away.
People come here to a place rather than to a building. Nothing should be dug or moved: the traces of the old masonry are all that is left.
