The mosque in Zoti is a reminder that the religious map of Guria is not confined to Orthodoxy. Muslim communities live in the mountainous eastern part of the region, and their prayer houses stand in the villages alongside churches.

This is a legacy of the same historical layer as the mosques of neighbouring Adjara. Zoti itself lies high up, in the headwaters, reached by a long road through wooded slopes: the last stretch climbs in serpentines, and the ascent is felt in the changing vegetation.

The visiting rules are the usual ones for a mosque: shoes are removed at the entrance, clothing should be covering with shoulders and knees hidden, and women need a headscarf. Sightseeing during prayer is out of place, and photography inside is best agreed first. The mosque has a toilet, rare for a mountain village.
