Chakhedana Church, Adjara, Georgia

Mamiya II Gurieli generously donated crosses, icons, valuable books, golden amphorae, sakkos and weapons to the temple - all this symbolized his deep sorrow and devotion to faith.

Its architectural design is impressive: arched windows and relief tiles on the facades give the building a special character, and the double arched cornice only emphasizes its sophistication. Although time has left its mark on the church, and the current building was erected in the 1990s on the foundations of a destroyed old church, it still continues to bear witness to the grandeur and history of this place. Near Chakhedana there is a paternal monastery, complementing the general atmosphere of spirituality and peace.
