  • Description

Jaimela Bridge (Tsoniarisi Bridge) is a picturesque arched bridge located in the village of Tsoniarisi in the Keda municipality in Adjara, representing an important historical and cultural site. Built during the High Middle Ages, the bridge is 22 meters long and 2.5 meters wide in the middle. It served as a key connection between the Adzharistskali gorge and the Khino monastery complex, and also connected the Kintrishi gorge with the villages of Guria.

Jaimela Bridge, also known as Tamara Bridge, is one of the oldest structures in the village and has a rich history, including damage during the Turkish invasions. Thanks to the rehabilitation work of 2009-2010, carried out using the old bridge supports, it was restored and continues to function, allowing movement between villages. The Tsoniarisi Bridge has the status of an immovable cultural monument of national importance, which makes it not only a practically significant object for local residents, but also an attractive attraction for tourists and historians seeking to explore the heritage and culture of Adjara.

A visit to the Jaimela Bridge provides a unique opportunity to become familiar with the historical bridge-building skills of the High Middle Ages and enjoy the picturesque views of the surrounding nature. This place is ideal for lovers of history, architecture, and for those who seek tranquility and inspiration in secluded corners of nature.
