Tbilisi Parks and Lakes

From above Tbilisi looks stony, yet it is full of green spaces. Vake Park leads along a long alley to the Victory monument and its grand staircase. Higher up on the slopes of Mtatsminda lies Turtle Lake with pedal boats and an old cable car cabin. The Botanical Garden fills a gorge below Narikala Fortress, with a waterfall, an arched bridge and a Japanese garden behind a red torii gate. On the edge of the city, above the Tbilisi Sea reservoir, spreads the Dendrological Park: rows of cypresses, cedars and pines, almond blossom in spring and red leaves in autumn.
