The Konstantine Leselidze House Museum gathers documents, photographs and belongings tied to the name of its owner and works together with the village educational institution. In Georgian villages museums like this often grow out of a school local history club and later get a room of their own. Staff or teachers show the collection.
The house stands in Khvarbeti, a village in the Ozurgeti municipality, on the flat part of Guria. Around it are fields, tea plantations and low hills, and the sea is less than half an hour away. The village is quiet, away from the main tourist roads.
The collection is intimate and twenty to thirty minutes is enough. Weekdays and the first half of the day are the easier times to come. Combine the trip with a route through Ozurgeti, Ureki or Kobuleti.
Tips
- Come on a weekday, the museum is linked to an educational institution
- Combine the visit with a trip to Ureki, the magnetic beaches are close
- Check the way in the village, there may be no signposts
How to get there
- West from Ozurgeti along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Minibuses run as far as Ozurgeti, beyond that you need a taxi or a car
