Unique ski lifts will open in Gudauri

In Gudauri, one of the most popular ski resorts in Georgia, impressive innovations are expected for the winter season of 2023-2024. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia announced that the Austrian-Swiss company Doppelmayer will build and equip two new cable cars.

The main innovation will be the new rope complexes "Bubble", which will have six-seater chairs. This means that passengers will be able to climb the mountain together with five of their friends or family at the same time. In addition, these lifts will be able to transport from 1800 to 2400 people in one hour. The length of the new cable cars will be 1,249 and 1,369 meters.

The Canadian company Ecodesign has already determined the placement of cable cars and ski areas. 6 kilometers will be added to the existing 70-kilometer trails, which will provide visitors with a unique space for skiing.

In February 2023, the Bakuriani ski Resort hosted the Snowboarding, Freestyle and Frisky World Championships. In June 2023, it became known that Gudauri and Bakuriani will host the stages of the International World Cup in winter sports every year.

Gudauri is located in the Kazbegi district of Georgia, at an altitude of 2,196 meters above sea level, which makes it the highest mountain settlement on the route of the Georgian Military Road.
