Sports event of the year: The traditional Horse Racing Cup in Bakhmaro!

On August 19 of this year, a long–awaited event - the traditional Horse Racing Cup - will take place in the Georgian resort town of Bakhmaro, located in the Guria region. Horse racing in Bakhmaro has a rich history, dating back to the 30s of the last century, and has already become an important part of the celebration of the Christian feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord.

The event attracts dozens of riders from various regions of Georgia, such as Samegrelo, Adjara, Guria, as well as guests from other countries of the world. The participants of the races consider winning this event a matter of honor, and the passion for this sport unites all participants and spectators.

The organizers aim to popularize horse racing as an important sport in Georgia and contribute to the development of the Bakhmaro resort. This year, the Cup received organizational support from the company "Tskali margebeli", the producer of spring waters "Bakhmaro" and "Nabeglavi", as well as the municipality of Chokhatauri and the "Bank of Georgia".

It is expected that the traditional horse racing will attract the attention of not only sports enthusiasts, but also tourists interested in the unique resort of Bakhmaro. The high alpine climate and the proximity of the Black Sea coast make this place popular for the treatment of lung diseases. The exceptional therapeutic qualities of the resort are due to its location high above sea level and the presence of coniferous forests.

The participants of the Cup will compete for a total prize fund of 20 thousand lari (about 7.7 thousand dollars) and will have the opportunity to enjoy cultural and entertainment events organized specifically for the guests of the resort.

The organizers have already started preparing for the event, and registration of participants is scheduled for August 18, the day before the start of the competition. The start of the Cup is scheduled for August 19, the competition will be held in three races: "Guria Cup", "Nabeglavi Cup" (1,200 meters long) and "Bakhmaro Cup" (2,400 meters long).
