Georgia national team drew with Scotland: prospects and challenges in qualifying for Euro 2024

In the last home match of the Euro 2024 qualifying stage, the Georgian national football team drew 2-2 with Scotland.

For the team, the result of this meeting turned out to be insignificant in the standings. The Georgian national team slightly missed the opportunity to participate in the continental championship, while Scotland has already turned itself into a ticket to the Euro.

Regardless of this, the Georgian team realized its ambitions, starting from the first minutes to threaten the opponent's goal. In the 15th minute, Khvich Kvaratskhelia scored after passing Kakabadze, making his success 1-0.

The Scots were able to equalize the score at the beginning of the second half – a goal scored by Scott McTominay in the 49th minute. However, the Georgian national team responded impressively: in the 56th minute, thanks to Chakvetadze's accurate pass and Kvaratskhelia's strike, the score became 2: 1 in favor of the Georgian.

The match was not without incidents: there was a small skirmish between the players, which the referee managed to settle.

In extra time, McTominay again presented himself with a score of 2: 2.

The first meeting of the team in Edinburgh ended with a victory for Scotland with a score of 0: 2.

The next challenge for the Georgian national team is a match with the leader of Group A, the Spanish national team. The game will be held in Valladolid, starting at 23: 45 Tbilisi time. Such a duel gives the Georgian group the opportunity to color their performances in bright colors before the end of the qualifying stages.
