Georgia national basketball team: results of the draw for the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Paris

During the draw held today for the qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024, the groups in which Georgian basketball teams will compete became known.

The Georgian national team was assigned to the same group along with representatives of Latvia and the Philippines. The tournament will be held in Riga, and in group B, where the Georgian national team will meet, the teams of Brazil, Montenegro and Cameroon will also compete.

The qualifying tournaments are divided into four mini-qualification tournaments scheduled in various countries – Spain, Greece, Latvia and Puerto Rico. Each of these tournaments will determine one team that will receive a ticket to the Olympic Games.

The competition will start from July 2 to July 7. Following the results of the first round, the two best teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The winner of the final of each tournament will receive a ticket to the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Georgian national team will be able to reach the playoffs if it manages to take one of the top two places in its group. If they win the final, Georgian basketball players will have a chance to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Group A: Spain, Angola, Lebanon.

Group B: Poland, Finland, Bahamas.

Riga (Latvia):

Group A: Latvia, Georgia, Philippines.

Group B: Brazil, Montenegro, Cameroon.

Piraeus (Greece):

Group A: Slovenia, New Zealand, Croatia.

Group B: Greece, Dominican Republic, Egypt.

Puerto Rico:

Group A: Lithuania, Mexico, Ivory Coast.

Group B: Puerto Rico, Italy, Bahrain.

Athletes from Georgia are aiming for a successful performance in qualifying tournaments with the hope of representing their country on the world stage of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
