It is planned that the match of the Italian national team will be available to visually impaired fans
According to the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), visually impaired fans supporting the Italian national football team will be able to use a special audio commentary during the match with the team of Northern Macedonia, which will be held at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on Friday.
The organizers will equip a small podium using audio commentary technology. This commentary provides special information for people deprived of visual perception of the match, describing the movements of football players, gestures, behavior of fans and the general atmosphere at the stadium. Commentators specializing in this type of commentary for the visually impaired take special training courses.
Approximately 20 blind spectators invited by FIGC will be able to take seats in the central stand (Monte Mario) and enjoy the match thanks to a special commentary and support platform, creating a unique and accessible football experience for everyone. This system was successfully tested in September at the match of the qualifying stage of the European Championship with the Ukrainian team, and from March 2024 it will be implemented on an ongoing basis.
