Georgian footballer Georgi Mikautadze signed a contract with Ajax

The next chapter in the career of the famous Georgian football player Georgi (Georges) Mikautadze was a contract with the Ajax football club. The official confirmation of this transfer appeared on the official website of the Amsterdam team.

Negotiations between Ajax and French Metz were completed successfully. Mikautadze, who was invited to cooperate with five different clubs, including Lyon, Ren, Sheffield and Lazio, chose Ajax as his new football home team. Now he will be the third Georgian player to play for Ajax, after Shota Arveladze and Giorgi Kinkladze.

Interestingly, a video was published on the official Ajax page in which Mikautadze admires the best goals of his compatriot Shota Arveladze scored for the Amsterdam club. The club management itself welcomed the new player, stating: "Welcome, Georgy Mikautadze."

Former Ajax footballer Shota Arveladze also shared his opinion about Mikautadze's transfer to the club. He expressed confidence that Mikautadze will achieve great success at Ajax. In addition, Arveladze compared Mikautadze with Luis Suarez, who also became famous in the Ajax squad.

The transfer amount was 16 million euros, and it can increase to 19 million euros, including bonuses. Thus, Mikautadze became the most expensive player to leave Metz.

Georgy Mikautadze's contract with Ajax is for a period until June 30, 2028.

Mikautadze started his career at the Lyon academy and moved to Metz for the first time in 2017. Before the 2020/2021 season, he played on loan at Serena in the Belgian First Division, where he became the top scorer and was recognized as the best player of the season.

In the 2022/2023 season, after returning to Metz, Mikautadze became one of the leaders of the team, getting into the symbolic team of the week of Ligue 2 six times. He became the league's top scorer and the best player of the season, and the Metz team returned to the French Ligue 1.

It is remarkable that Mikautadze was called up to the Georgian national team in March 2021 and made his debut for it in a match against the Swedish national team. Since then, he has continued to give his goals and skills to the football world.
