A strong earthquake was recorded near Tbilisi
A very unusual event occurred in Georgia - an earthquake of magnitude 4.7 rocked the earth at a distance of only four kilometers from the capital. It happened at about eight in the morning local time, and information about this event appeared on the official website of the National Seismic Monitoring Center.
The epicenter of this earthquake, which occurred at such an early hour, was located a couple of kilometers from the small village of Lelubani, which is located in the Mtskheta district. It is interesting to note that this earthquake came to us from a depth of 27 kilometers, which added even more intrigue to this natural phenomenon.
Georgia is a country with average seismic activity, and the most destructive earthquake in the history of Georgia occurred back in 1991, in the western regions of Georgia - Racha and Imereti. The magnitude of this earthquake was exactly seven points, which is simply amazing. Unfortunately, about 200 people died as a result, in addition, about forty-six thousand houses and slightly less than a thousand industrial structures were also destroyed.
And now, again, Georgia has witnessed another earthquake. This makes us think about the power and destructiveness of nature, and how vulnerable we humans really are to its colossal power. But let's hope that no one was injured as a result of this incident, and scientists will be able to study it to be better prepared for such cases in the future.
