Control over the purity of the waters of the Black Sea: The results of the examination

Concern for the state of the environment has always been in the spotlight, especially when it comes to priceless natural resources, such as the Black Sea. The latest results of laboratory tests provided to the public have confirmed that the waters in the Black Sea water area of Georgia meet safety standards by July 30, according to the press service of the National Environmental Protection Agency.

Scientific circles began to discuss the state of the waters in the Black Sea after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya HPP. It is known that as a result of this event, the concentration of salt in the sea has significantly decreased. This, in turn, is caused by the infusion of a large amount of fresh water into the sea basin.

Within the framework of the conducted studies, the chemical characteristics of water were revealed, including the concentration of 13 heavy metals, the presence of petroleum hydrocarbons, as well as the level of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and other physico-chemical parameters.

Adjara is a special object of attention when it comes to sea waters. The National Environmental Protection Agency regularly monitors water quality, carrying out inspections at different time periods at nine stations. Since the beginning of July, the number of stations has been increased, and three new stations have been added on the territory of Anaklia-Ganmukhuri.

As part of the study, 59 parameters of the water samples taken were analyzed. The latest measurements were carried out at seven points of the Adjara coast, including Sarpi, Kvariati, Aquapark, central beach of Batumi, Green Cape, Bobokvati and central beach of Kobuleti.

Summing up, it is worth noting the statements of Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. She stressed that some false claims that the Black Sea in the waters of Georgia poses a threat to human health are part of a negative anti-state campaign.
