Record budget for education in 2024: New intentions of the Georgian government

The Minister of Education of Georgia, speaking at a plenary session of the Parliament, announced a record budget for the Ministry of Education and Science for the next year. This has become one of the key priorities of the government, the minister stressed. It is expected that the education budget in 2024 will reach an unprecedented level of GEL 2.5 billion, according to the head of the Ministry of Education Georgy Amilakhvari.

Amilakhvari presented a report on current and future projects in the field of education at all levels of the education system, as well as on the steps being taken to develop the scientific field. According to him, the financing of education and science this year amounted to GEL 2.08 billion. The Minister noted significant progress, comparing these figures with 2012, when only GEL 626.8 million were allocated for education. He stressed that in 2024 the budget for the education, science and youth sectors will increase by 300%.

The Minister's words emphasized that support for the development of education remains among the key priorities of the government. The growing budget for the educational system from year to year is a convincing evidence of this aspiration.
