On the occasion of a significant event - the 30th anniversary of the first issue of the lari, the national currency of Georgia, the National Bank of the country decided to celebrate this event in a special way. As part of the anniversary, it is planned to issue three variants of unique collectible coins.

The Lari was put into circulation on September 25, 1995, and a week later, on October 2, it became the only legal payment unit in Georgia. An interesting fact is that before that, residents of Georgia used coupons and rubles as a means of exchange.

The National Bank of Georgia calls for the creativity and attention of artists, holding a competition for the development of sketches of three collectible coins with a value of "5 lari". It is assumed that the coins will be made of copper and nickel, silver and gold, and will have diameters of 28, 38.61 and 25 millimeters, respectively. It is interesting to note that the silver coin will contain colored elements that add even more attractiveness and originality.

Contestants must submit three different coin designs, accompanied by an explanation and description. The whole process of collecting works will last until September 11, 2023, and the winner will be determined by the end of October. Those interested in the contest are offered a wonderful incentive - two thousand lari for one side of the coin.

This event not only marks the important anniversary of the national currency, but also highlights the pride and value of the lari in Georgian culture. Collectible coins will become not only a valuable historical artifact, but also a symbol of Georgia's national identity, attracting the attention of collectors and numismatics lovers from all over the world.
