Georgia will attract 70 million euros from France for a project to develop irrigated agriculture
Georgia puts a bold end to its quest for modern agriculture with a new project supported by the French Development Agency (AFD). The total cost of the project is 70 million euros, half of which is allocated for infrastructure.
Irrigated agriculture based on artificial irrigation will be supported by modern infrastructure. This will not only increase the production of high-quality agricultural products, but also increase the availability of food for the population and strengthen the competitiveness of Georgian goods in regional markets.
A significant part of the funding will be directed to the modernization of the Zemo Samgori irrigation canal, the creation of effective irrigation systems in response to climate change, as well as to support the state policy of sustainable water management and the introduction of climate-optimized practices in agriculture.
This project not only contributes to the modernization of agriculture in Georgia, but also emphasizes the country's desire for a sustainable and innovative approach to the use of natural resources.
