Exclusive numismatic treasures: New coins "Kings of Georgia" on the way

For real collectors and connoisseurs of numismatics - great news. The National Bank of Georgia has announced the upcoming release of the latest coins from the fascinating series "Kings of Georgia", launched in 2022.

On August 31, pre-order for coins dedicated to Kings Parnavaz and Bagrat III will begin. These coins, we recall, will be the final in the collection, which already includes Vakhtang Gorgasali, David Agmashenebeli, Queen Tamar, George the Brilliant and Irakli II.

A gold coin weighing 8.5 grams and with a face value of five lari is estimated at 1,470 lari. The silver version, weighing 17 grams, also with a face value of five lari, will be available at a price of 100 lari.

A wide sale will begin on September 14, but it is worth noting that only 700 gold and 4.5 thousand silver coins dedicated to each of the great kings will be issued.

The coin dedicated to Bagrat III represents the king himself on the obverse, depicting the temple - the image is taken from the fresco of the Bedia temple. On the reverse is the crown of Bagrat III with a nominal value of 5 lari and the inscriptions "საააა" and "GEORGIA". The inscription Bagrat III and the years of his reign - 975-1014 are also present on the coin.

The coin honoring King Parnavaz depicts the king himself with ancient Georgian inscriptions and a face value of 5 lari on the obverse. The reverse of the coin shows the crown and the image of the first Georgian alphabet, accompanied by the inscriptions "საააა" and "GEORGIA". It is important to note that Parnavaz I is also mentioned, and the years of his reign - IV-III centuries BC, are associated with an important event - the creation of the Georgian script, which makes this coin even more valuable in the historical context.

So, starting from the end of August, numismatists and historians can replenish their collections with a part of the rich heritage of Georgia.
