A free vaccination program against the influenza virus has been launched in Georgia.
This important event was announced by the Deputy Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, Eka Adamiya. To carry out the program, the Ministry of Health of Georgia purchased 200 thousand doses of a four-component vaccine from the Dutch company Abbott Biologicals B.V, which is recommended by WHO. Adamiya stressed that the influenza virus is active in the autumn-winter period, and the fight against it begins with vaccination. She also noted that the purchased vaccine includes influenza virus strains that are expected this season.
At the same time, the first cases of influenza were recorded in Georgia at the end of September.
