A large batch of coronavirus vaccines was delayed in Georgia the other day. More than forty thousand doses of the drug were supposed to arrive in the country this week.
The Director General of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health apologized and assured residents that the delivery would take place within two weeks. Citizens who have received the first vaccination will be able to complete the course on time.
Gamkrelidze also announced his readiness to increase the intensity of the vaccination process - soon new vaccination centers will be opened in new spaces in large cities. By the beginning of autumn, it is planned to vaccinate most of the local population.
In addition to the overdue delivery, the arrival of an antitussive drug from the United States is expected soon.
Georgian medical workers have already received 86 thousand doses from the Anglo-Swedish pharmaceutical company for vaccination.
