Infectious disease specialists warn: we need to be prepared for a new outbreak of morbidity

An as yet unexplored Indian strain of coronavirus was brought to Georgia from the territory of the Middle East. At the end of May, five people had positive results at once, two of them were local residents.

According to the latest estimates, 20 cases of infection with an altered form of covid have been registered in the country.

The increasing progression of the spread of a new strain across the country gives reason to think about the next wave of a pandemic and be ready for it," the UN Health adviser believes. He also noted that the next outbreak may be more global and have severe consequences, because the human body and the immune system have been severely depleted physically and mentally during quarantine and they need a full recovery.

The new COVID-19 mutation is considered more aggressive to the carrier. The rate of its spread and resistance to antibodies is much higher than that of the now common British type. In this regard, the World Health Organization has classified it as "worrisome".
