The Holy Virgin hermitage stands in the Khashmi area. The Georgian word savane denotes a small monastic house, smaller in size and in number of residents than a full monastery.
Khashmi lies in Sagarejo Municipality in the Iori gorge, about two kilometres from the Ujarma Kviratskhoveli church. The village is known for winemaking: its Saperavi is set apart as a distinct microzone. Hills, vineyards and openings towards the steppe part of the district lie around.
A headscarf is useful for women, as it may be required at the entrance. The site remains part of the everyday life of the area, and that deserves respect.
