The Tamaz Jincharadze Art House is an artist space where the studio and the exhibition part live side by side. It shows the works of the artist and the objects he has gathered over the years, and he or his family tell the story. The format differs from a museum: the display changes and the conversation takes no less time than the viewing.
The house stands in Kvemo Lisi, a village in the Mtskheta municipality, on the hills beyond Lisi lake. It is under half an hour from Tbilisi, yet the feeling is already rural: orchards, slopes and a distant view of the city. The place works well as a short half day trip.
The collection is private, so it is worth arranging the visit in advance. Allow about an hour for the viewing and the talk. The first half of the day is the easier time to come.
Tips
- Arrange the visit in advance, the space is a private one
- Combine the trip with Lisi lake and a walk on the hills
- Allow time for conversation, here it is part of the visit
How to get there
- From Tbilisi via Lisi lake, about twenty minutes by car
- Public transport is infrequent here, a car or taxi is easier
