The Amiran Zenaishvili House Museum keeps the setting of a village house and the things gathered within the family: dishes, tools, textiles, photographs. Guria house museums are valuable for their wholeness: the rooms stay as they were, and that says more about daily life than a few rare objects would. Everything is shown in person.
The house stands in Machkhvareti, a village in the Lanchkhuti municipality, on the plain of western Guria. Around it are fields, orchards and the roads towards Lanchkhuti and lake Paliastomi. The sea is less than an hour away.
The grounds are reachable at any hour, but daylight makes more sense for the visit. Half an hour is enough. The trip fits well into a Lanchkhuti, Ureki and Grigoleti route.
Tips
- Come during the day, the house looks different in daylight
- Combine the trip with Ureki or lake Paliastomi
- Check the way in the village, signposts may be missing
How to get there
- From Lanchkhuti along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly an hour and a quarter from Kutaisi via Samtredia and Lanchkhuti
