The Kiro Katamadze House Museum keeps the setting of a village house and the objects tied to the name of its owner: furniture, photographs, documents and everyday things. Adjarian house museums are also interesting for the building itself: the timber, the carved details, the characteristic plan with a veranda. It is shown in person, so the account is lively.
The house stands in Zeniti, a village in the Kobuleti municipality, on the hills away from the coast. Around it are mandarin orchards, forest and the roads running deeper into Adjara. Kobuleti and the sea are about half an hour away.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit in advance. Combine the trip with a route through the Kobuleti hinterland.
Tips
- Combine the visit with Tikeri lake or the Kintrishi reserve
- Look at the building itself, Adjarian houses are interesting in their details
- Come in dry weather, the hill roads are harder after rain
How to get there
- From Kobuleti towards the hills, about half an hour by car
- Roughly forty minutes from Batumi via Kobuleti
