The Mskhaladze House Museum keeps the setting of a village house and the things gathered within the family: dishes, tools, textiles, documents and photographs. In Shida Kartli collections like this often grow out of a single cupboard holding the family archive and gradually take over a room of their own. Everything is shown in person, so the account runs through stories.
The house stands in Khtsisi, a village in the Khashuri municipality, on the plain at the foot of the Likhi range. Around it are fields, orchards and local roads. Surami with its fortress and climatic resort is nearby.
The house is small and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with Surami and a wider Shida Kartli route.
Tips
- Combine the trip with Surami, under half an hour away
- Arrange the visit through the village in advance
- Check the way on the spot, there may be no signposts
How to get there
- From Khashuri along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly two hours from Tbilisi along the highway via Gori and Khashuri
