The Vakhtang Isergishvili Museum is a village collection with state status, which is rare for a rural museum. The display holds household objects, documents, photographs and material connected with the history of the village and the name the museum carries. Everything is shown and explained in person, so the visit is unhurried.
The museum stands in Kvemo Chala, a village in the Kaspi municipality, on the plain by the Mtkvari between Mtskheta and Gori. Around it are fields, orchards and the road linking the district centres. The place is off the highway and therefore quiet.
The collection is intimate and half an hour is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with Kaspi and Uplistsikhe.
Tips
- Combine the trip with Uplistsikhe, under an hour away
- Arrange the visit through the village in advance
- Check the way on the spot, there may be no signposts
How to get there
- From Kaspi along the local road, about twenty minutes by car
- Roughly an hour from Tbilisi via Mtskheta and Kaspi
