The house is dedicated to St Nino, the enlightener of Georgia. It stands in the Ganisi country, yet noticeably apart from the town itself.
The mountains here are wide, and a single district name covers several gorges: more than five kilometres from here to the Ascension church of Ganisi, seven to the Tsetskhlisjvari tower, and about seven to the Alaverdi church at Tskere.
The rules are monastic: covered shoulders and knees, a headscarf for women, quiet, photography by permission. The road here is a mountain one and drifts over in winter, so it is better to come in the warm season and with daylight to spare.
