A male monastic house dedicated to Anthim the Iberian, in Georgian Antimoz Ivarieli. He is a remarkable figure even by the standards of Georgian history: born in Georgia, he came to the Ottoman Empire and then to Wallachia, mastered printing and became one of the leading typographers of the Orthodox east, issuing books in Romanian, Greek, Arabic and Georgian. He rose to Metropolitan of Ungro-Wallachia and died in disgrace. The church honours him as a hieromartyr.
The house stands by the village of Dimi, south of Kutaisi on the road towards Baghdati, and is known by the name of the locality, Gotieti. The century of foundation is not established. Anthim is venerated both in Georgia and in Romania, where most of his life was spent.
The house is male and in use: covering clothing, a headscarf and skirt for women, voices kept low. The first half of the day is the better time to come, as the monastic day is marked out by services and work.
