Khichauri
The village of Khichauri is located in the Shuakhevi municipality, Adjara. It is 60 km from here to Batumi, and about 6 km to Shaukhevi. During the Soviet era, a border detachment of the KGB of the USSR was based here.
After the withdrawal of Soviet troops, all residential and other buildings, as well as the vehicle fleet, were handed over to local residents. A temporary church was located in the former company commander's quarters.
Later, the Church of the Holy Mother of God was built where the parade ground used to be. Although this is a modern temple, it was built in the ancient style.
In 2009, under the patronage of the Orthodox churches of Georgia The Saint Tbel Abuseridze University was opened in the village.
