A significant area of the fortress is a surprisingly imposing hunched tower with an adjoining wall. The leaning tower is situated almost 8 meters above the ground, which is typical for towers of this type. The rounded side of the tower faces a mountain slope, while the flat side faces the nearby river.
The flat side of the tower is difficult to see because the ground level next to it is higher than elsewhere. Small stones were used in building the fence for the tower. The fortress has features typical of buildings of the early feudal period.
On the territory of Uznariani you can see the remnants of former constructions. The fortress of Uznariani was built in a suitable, in terms of strategy, place and, as a consequence, had sufficient protection.
The exact origin of the name of the fortress remains unknown, but presumably it is related to the name of a certain plant.
