Secrets of ancient Uplistsikhe
Uplistsikhe cave city is located on the territory of Eastern Georgia, not far from Gori in the eastern direction, on the left side of the Mtkvari River. According to legends and legends, it was called the “fortress of God".
At the beginning of the Iron Age Uplistsikhe was one of the most important cities within the borders of the territory of Shida Kartli. The leaders of that time made it their fortress. A little later, in the VI-V centuries BC, Uplistsikhe had the status of the royal city of Shida Kartli and it was a powerful economic, cultural and political center.
The convenient location of the city provided him with good protection from the enemy. The city was located on a slope, therefore it had natural protection from the western and southern sides.
Incredibly large-scale David Gareji
In the south-east direction from Tbilisi, there is a whole complex of cave structures called David Gareji. The peculiarity of its location is that the border between Georgia and Azerbaijan passes through it. The border between the states divides David-Gareji in two halves.
The complex stretches for a quarter of kilometers along the Gareji ridge. Cave monasteries are famous for their frescoes depicting the Golden Age of Georgia. Most of the frescoes were engraved in the IX-XIII centuries.
The unique cave complex Vardzia
Vardzia is a famous monument located in the southern part of Georgia, in the region Javakheti. The monastery complex is located on the banks of the Kura River itself, the largest in Transcaucasia.

Svaneti Defense Towers
