There is a fortress on the bank of the Shavtskala River, in Tsikhisjvari. The building is in poor condition, despite this it is of interest to tourists.
The fortress in the village of Tsikhisdzhvari, on the bank of the Shavtskala River, can be attributed to the sights of Georgia, which time has not spared. Once there was a church and various household buildings on its territory.
Tsikhisjvari is a fortress located in the south of Georgia. This cultural monument is located in the village of the same name, next to the river Shavtskala.
Unfortunately, if you want to visit this place, you will have to take into account the influence of time on the preservation of the monument. Sometimes it destroys even what they tried to preserve with all their might. Unfortunately, not all historically important and valuable sights of Georgia retain their original appearance. Only time can be blamed for this loss of the cultural heritage of an entire nation.
In the 21st century, almost nothing remains of the historical monument of Georgia. Local residents can only believe the data of researchers who have studied historical references and eyewitness notes. Scientists are sure that earlier, on a hill in the village of Tsikhisjvari, a fortress stood and pleased travelers and locals, inside which there was an Orthodox church. It is known that in the rather late years of the feudal era, this now lost cultural monument was a special strategic point for this area. Unfortunately, the sights of Georgia are gradually losing their original appearance, are being destroyed. But the memories of the fortress of Tsikhisjvari will forever remain in the memory of people. The most beautiful shots of this monument are in the National Museum.
