Natural "doctor" in Georgia: Tskaltubo city-resort. Therapeutic baths, sanatoriums and resorts on the territory of the resort.
The resort city of Tskaltubo is located in western Georgia and is known for its unique radon waters, sanatoriums and resorts. The warm, therapeutic natural water can cure all kinds of diseases, but before visiting it, it is necessary to consult a doctor, as there are contraindications.
The resort town of Tskaltubo is famous for its therapeutic radon baths, sanatoriums and boarding houses. Basically all treatment and preventive infrastructure of Tskaltubo was planned, built and developed during the Soviet period. But first things first...
The first mention of the settlement dates back to the 7th century. There was information that the curative effect of local waters became known in the 12th century. How accurate this information is, it is difficult to say. The first official mention of the healing effect of the radon baths Tskhaltubo were published in the 18th century, in the publication "Berlin Nature Society.
Later they were translated into Russian, and only at the end of the 19th century, the Russian academician G. Struve conducted chemical analyses of the local springs. Apparently, there was silence and peace in this direction afterwards.
In 1920 the springs of Tskhaltubo were taken under state control and acquired a status of a balneological resort. In 1926 Bolsheviks started to seriously engage in balneological economy of Tskaltubo. And in 1931 Stalin had already come here. But not for recreation, but to treat his feet.
Almost immediately after his visit, large-scale research was conducted for two years. And in 1936 the first architectural project was developed.
The next major step related to the development of Tskhaltubo was made in the very beginning of the 1950s. The city was divided into three districts - balneological, sanitary and residential. Over the entire period there were built about 20 health resorts, 9 complexes, equipped with therapeutic baths and a branch of the Research Institute of Balneology and Physiotherapy.
Resorts of Tskhaltubo were especially popular among the party leadership. It was considered that radon baths not only treated various diseases, but had a positive effect on life expectancy as well. It should be noted that Tskhaltubo, it is not only radon baths.
There are other natural "doctors" in this area - karst caves. The air, which is filled with these caves, contains tiny particles of mineral salts.
An important point - before you decide to treat "all in a row" with radon baths or karst grottoes should always consult your doctor. Contraindications for these treatments are also present.
