Significant rivers and reservoirs of Georgia. Inguri River and Jvari reservoir.
The Inguri River originates from glaciers and is not very long in length. In some places, the speed of the river reaches colossal values. In the area of the middle course of the Inguri, the Jvari reservoir was made. The dam of this reservoir is amazing and it can be called a truly unique structure.
The Inguri River flows in Western Georgia, on the border of several historical and geographical provinces (Samegrelo, Abkhazia и Svaneti).

It originates from the glaciers of the watershed ridge of the Greater Caucasus, at an altitude of 2614 meters above sea level. In the village of Anaklia, the Inguri flows into the Black Sea.
Inguri is not very large in length (only 213 km), but it has very impressive indicators of water consumption and lowering. In some parts of Inguri there are canyon-like valleys and steep rapids, where the river reaches a high speed. In some places (the Theishi River, a right tributary), the indicators of the fall of the river reach 117 meters, which makes a great impression on the beholders. The Inguri catchment basin ranks third in Georgia in terms of energy potential.
On the section of the middle Inguri river, at the boundary of the mountain ranges of Abkhazia and Svaneti, the Jvari reservoir has been created, the dam of which, from the point of view of engineering technology, is a unique structure. The reservoir is the deepest in the Caucasus: its depth reaches 226 meters.
