Nikortsminda Cathedral is made in a rectangular shape and has short projections. If you get inside, you will see the frescoes of the seventeenth century, which have survived to our time, there are twelve windows in the dome. The temple is replete with carved ornaments and ornaments of various sizes and complexity.

The Cathedral (XI-XIX centuries) of the Rachin Diocese named after St. Nicholas, according to the ktitor inscription on the doors of the western entrance, was built by the first tsar of the united Georgia Bagrat III in 1010-1014. The southern and western gates were added in the XI century . In 1534, the cathedral was reconstructed by the Imeretian tsar Bagrat III (1510-1565).
The three-storey bell tower of Nikortsminda was built in the second half of the XIX century. The cathedral has a rectangular shape with short projections and five apses. Frescoes of the XVII century have been preserved in the interior . The walls are lined with well-treated stone. There are 12 windows in the domed arcade drum.
The temple has an abundance of carved ornaments, multi-figure reliefs, multi-figure compositions ("The Second Coming", "The Transfiguration of the Lord","The Exaltation of the Cross of the Lord"), images of saints, mythical and real zoomorphic figures. The windows are framed with carved edging.
