The museum contains personal belongings of the Georgian singer Vano Sarajishvili (1879-1924); antique porcelain dishes, ethnographic material, samples of fine art (paintings, graphics, sculptures), photographic material reflecting the singer's activities in Georgia and at La Scala Theatre in Italy, costumes for performances, musical instruments, including a gramophone, on which even today you can listen to musical works performed by the singer; sheet music, gramophone records, CDs, and items donated to the singer.
One of the founders of modern Georgian professional vocal art, the most beloved singer of the Georgian people, the "Nightingale of Georgia" Vano Saradzhishvili became a legend during his lifetime.
He is a lyric-dramatic tenor, People's Artist of Georgia. Since 1887 he studied in Tbilisi Gymnasium for the Nobility, there he sang in the choir of students (1888-1895). In 1898 he entered the Tbilisi musical school (cello class). In 1898-1900 was a singer of the Georgian chorus and soloist (the leader - S. Kavsadze). Since 1903 he studied singing in St.Petersburg first with I. Pryashnikov, then with A. Panayeva-Kartseva.
It was here that Vano Saradzhishvili made his debut in the opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi. At the same time he mastered the art of "bel canto" in Italy under the direction of Casteano (1906-1908). From 1908 he performed on the stage of the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater. In 1913 he performed fragments of Zakharia Paliashvili's newly composed opera "Absalom and Eteri" (the part of Absalom). It is known that Zakharia Paliashvili introduced Malkhaz's aria "Oh, woe is me" into the opera at the request of Vano Saradzhishvili. Sarajishvili performed both lyrical and dramatic roles with equal success.
He was featured in the film "The Father-Killer" (1923). His voice was recorded on several technically flawed gramophone records, which were restored in 1999 based on originals discovered by Anzor Erkomishvili in London.
