In the city of Bolnisi there is an interesting museum, rich in archaeological artifacts – the Museum of local lore. The museum was established in 1951, it contains unique ancient artifacts of material culture, including a petrified tree at the age of a million years, objects of the Neolithic era.
Of particular note are the deer horn (which was used for cultivating the land), stone sculptures, stupas, etc.; Bronze Age hand axes, belts, bracelets and household pottery; archaeological finds of the ancient era, including rare ones – a zoomorphic jug in the shape of a bird; material reflecting the stages of development of Georgian writing (inscription on the Bolnisi Sioni Church, the tombstone of Ioane Bolneli, etc.); church books from the time of Tsar Heraclius II, rare editions of the work by the origin of Bolnisi Yakov Tsurtaveli "Martyrdom of Shushanik"; material, pictorial and ethnographic exhibits reflecting the life of the XIX and XX centuries. Separate stands demonstrate artifacts discovered in the settlement of Dmanisi.
