Historical Museum in Khoni – rare artifacts, ethnography and secrets of the past

🔹 First floor – ancient history and ethnography

Here are collected objects that tell about the life of Georgian peasants and artisans:

• Wooden grape presses used for wine production
• Kvevri – traditional Georgian clay vessels for storing drinks
• National costumes and jewelry typical of Imereti
• Works of local artists and Lithuanian watercolors donated to the museum

A special place is occupied by the archaeological collection, which includes:

• Neolithic axes and bronze belts found in ancient burials
• Coins of all eras found in the region
• Tools of ancient Georgians used in agriculture and handicrafts

🔹 Second floor – military and political history of Georgia

This floor is dedicated to later periods:

• Soviet era – busts of forgotten politicians, documents reflecting the life of the region in the 20th century
• Military exhibition – awards, weapons, photographs of soldiers
• Georgian independence movement – ​​portraits of Zviad Gamsakhurdia, victims of the events of April 9, documents related to the struggle for freedom

Here you can also see unusual items, for example, a vase with an image of a young Stalin, donated to the Gori museum.

🌿 Museum courtyard – ethnographic exhibition

In the open air are:

• Traditional Georgian houses, typical of Imereti
• Agricultural tools used by local farmers
• Wine corner - grape presses and other wine-making items
