📚 Giorgi Akhvlediani (1887–1973) is an outstanding Georgian linguist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Georgian SSR, who left a deep mark on the history of science.
He was born in the village of Derchi, where he spent his childhood years before going to study. In 1910, he entered the Faculty of History and Philology of Kharkov University, where he received fundamental knowledge of Indo-European linguistics and classical philology. Later, he continued his studies at Petrograd University, expanding his research in the field of phonetics.
