J. Shardeni Street in Tbilisi is an intertwining of European, Georgian and Asian culture.
Chardeney Street in the center of old Tbilisi and its cultural value. Madloba provides complete information about the history of the street, who it is named after and why guests compare it to Paris. In the article we wrote about the location, why they consider it a landmark and what attracts everyone.
Shardeni pedestrian street is located in the center of old Tbilisi, not far from Meydan Square. In the past, the street, and the entire quarter, was called Dark Rows. The narrow streets were filled with craft shops and workshops. Large awnings were made to protect from the heat and rain, so it was gloomy. This is how the name "Dark Rows" came about. Each of the streets was named after the trade that was conducted there.
The Iron and Cotton streets are still preserved. Gradually the quarter was rebuilt. Major reconstruction was done in 1981. The street became pedestrian, almost all first floors were occupied by cafes, restaurants, brand stores. The street has changed not only its appearance, but its name. It was named after the traveler and writer from France - Jean Chardin. In the 17th century he made a great voyage to the East. In 1672, he visited Tbilisi, made a description of the city, which he supplied with graphic images. These drawings are considered the earliest surviving drawings.
At the beginning of the 21st century, more precisely in 2002, Chardin Street was transformed again. European, Georgian and Asian cultures are mixed here. Many cafes and restaurants have outdoor terraces, you can taste Georgian, French, Russian and other dishes. A variety of music can be heard. There is space for concerts and exhibitions.
Chardinis is often compared to some Parisian street, not for nothing it has a French name. This place is loved by tourists and locals alike. During the day worth visiting the local stores to buy souvenirs from the local artists. Those who love architecture, will be interested in viewing the facades of old houses. And in the evening you can relax and have dinner here. There are places for every taste: from restaurants to youth clubs and discos.

Особенно понравилось то, как менялись названия. Это даже мило, как просто дали имена это улице. Тёмная из-за навесов, Шардени, в честь путешественника и его искусства.
Культуры мешаются, и эти перемены всегда придают месту необыкновенный шарм.
