Dance tradition of Georgia
Georgia is famous all over the world not only a unique technique of choral singing, but also the culture of dance.
The dance tradition of Georgia originated before our time. This is confirmed by extant sources and archaeological finds. It is known that the ancient Greek historian Xenophon mentioned ritual dances among the ancient Georgian tribes.
Georgian folk dances bright and diverse. It is a symbiosis of grace and expression. Like folk music, dances reflect the national flavor, the peculiarities of the area in which they originated. Each region has its own characteristic features, a peculiar style of performance. These features are reflected in the dance costume – an essential attribute of dance.
Through the dance, Georgians talked about their daily life. This is evidenced by the characteristic movements symbolizing traditional occupations: hunting, cattle breeding, agricultural work, combat battles. With the development of dance culture, dance was supplemented with other images: wedding, competitive, entertaining, and later became a professional occupation. The basic dance movements were fixed.
Georgian dance is difficult to perform. Skill, physical strength and endurance are required. The movements of women are graceful and soft. Smoothly stepping over small steps, they seem to float above the ground. In contrast to women, men move sharply, expressively and quickly, demonstrating strength and belligerence. Mandatory elements in the dance of men are high jumps, complex pirouettes, sharp turns, dancing on fingers and knees. All dance moves are performed with a straight and motionless back.

The romantic kartuli dance has become widespread. This is a pair dance symbolizing a wedding. The girl gracefully performs the movements, slightly lowering her gaze. The man dances next to her, not taking his eyes off her, not daring to touch her, thus expressing deep respect and sympathy. Dance moves are technically difficult, you need to have high skill to perform them.

The movements simulate preparation for a fight, a duel or a whole battle, thus honing combat techniques to the highest skill. The dance is a group, up to forty people can take part in its performance at the same time.
Kintouri is a light and incendiary dance that originated in an urban environment, tells about the life of the citizens of the old Tbilisi. The name comes from the Georgian word kinto, which means "street vendor". The dance recreates the image of a street vendor selling fruits and vegetables, which he deftly carries on a basket on his head.
