  • Description

On the picturesque Cape Verde, within walking distance from the bustling life of Batumi, are hidden the ruins of the majestic sanatorium "Adjara". Built during the golden era of the early 1930s, the sanatorium was once considered the crown jewel of Soviet healthcare, where guests from all over the Soviet Union sought privacy and health.

A glorious architectural monument, the Adjara sanatorium was a place where time seemed to stand still. There was a cinema, a library, dance and billiard halls, a post office - everything you needed for a good rest. All that remains of it are shadows of its splendor in the form of ruined walls and fragments that still whisper the stories of bygone days.

This building, rising in front of us, is a witness to numerous transformations - from the Kalistratovs’ dacha to the GPI Rest House, which later turned into the Adjara sanatorium. The legendary cable car that connected the beach with the central building, unfortunately, no longer adorns the landscape, but its memories continue to live in the minds of many.

Now, in its peace and quiet, this abandoned sanatorium attracts researchers, photographers and anyone interested in history. It stands as a reminder of times past, inviting reflection on the impermanence of fame and fortune. This attraction is a real treat for lovers of history, retro architecture and nature, offering a unique atmosphere for immersing yourself in the past and reflecting on Georgia's cultural heritage.
