The Jura Museum is a small village collection known around the area by that name. Inside are village household objects, tools, dishes and things brought in by the residents. Museums like this rest on people rather than on budgets, and the account matters here no less than the display itself.
The museum stands in Meore Etseri, a village in the Abasha municipality, on the plain of western Georgia. Around it are fields, orchards and the roads between Abasha and Martvili. The village is small and the tourist flow passes it by.
The collection is intimate and twenty to thirty minutes is enough. The first half of the day is the easier time, and it is better to arrange the visit through the village in advance. Combine the trip with the Martvili canyon.
Tips
- Combine the trip with the Martvili canyon in the same direction
- Ask in the village if the door is locked, the key is usually close
- Check the way on the spot, there may be no signposts
How to get there
- From Abasha along the local road, about ten minutes by car
- Roughly an hour from Kutaisi via Samtredia and Abasha
