The State Museum of Ilya Chavchavadze is located in the city of Kvareli in the family estate of the famous Georgian author, where the great publicist lived for a long time. The museum site covers the Marani wine cellar, a square tower, a family terrace and a garden with fir trees and bamboo.
Throughout his life, the poet participated in the spread of literacy among the people, raising the national consciousness of people and promoted their cohesion, for which he was nicknamed the “uncrowned king of Georgia”. Fans of Chavchavadze's art can see not only the memorial items of his family, but also the interior of the apartment building: furniture, weapons, an old library with original publications.
The museum fund has personal letters, achievements and notes of the writer, manuscripts of Georgian and foreign public figures. The exhibition hall houses paintings by local artists, portraits and photographs of the poet.
