Mamison Pass - Mountain Route and Ancient Towers of the Caucasus
- Description
The Mamison Pass is one of the most picturesque and highest passes in the Caucasus, located at an altitude of about 2,911 meters. This route connects the Racha region of Georgia with North Ossetia, maintaining strategic importance today.
The Ossetian military road passes through the pass, known for its steep serpentines, narrow slopes and lack of asphalt. Due to avalanches and snow drifts, the route is only accessible during the warm season.
The ruins of ancient settlements and watchtowers give the pass special value. Here once stood the village of Lisri with dozens of defensive towers, some of which have survived to this day, giving the area a special atmosphere.
Today, the Mamison Pass attracts travelers, photographers and researchers - as one of the places where you can feel the breath of history against the backdrop of the majestic Caucasus Mountains.
