Mount Gombori - a picturesque pass and panoramic route in Kakheti
- Description
Mount Gombori is a winding mountain pass and part of the Tsiv-Gombori range in Kakheti, connecting Tbilisi and Telavi. The road at an altitude of up to 1,620 m stretches through flowering subalpine meadows, coniferous forests and steep serpentine bends, creating a typical and unforgettable shot of Georgia.
Gombori is a watershed between the Alazani and Iori valleys, which divides Kakheti into inner (Shida) and outer (Gare) zones. From here, you can see panoramas of vineyards, dolmens and mountain ranges, which are especially beautiful in the autumn, when the forests turn gold.
The path along the pass is accessible all year round - spring and autumn are especially spectacular, in summer it is fresh in the shade of the forests, in winter the road can be closed due to snow and fog.
On the legendary road to Gombori, you can find stops near small villages, try local products: honey, vegetables, nuts and berry gifts straight from your hands.
Gombori Mountain is not just a pass, it is a grand journey through time and the nature of Georgia.
